Who can help me with my clutch?

Post by retrodriver »

Its pretty notchy, occasionally when hot a bit jumpy, very high on the pedal and not that sharp through the gears so bearing in mind ive got about 800 miles to do this month at least I have bought a new clutch kit.

Now while I will tackle most things, I dont fancy doing this one by myself, especially as its my only taxed car at the moment and I need it.

If anyone is willing to help I can supply beer, travel to wherever etc or whatever is required. I have a pretty large bill coming tomorrow I reckon for my fuel tank issue so I cant really afford a garage at the moment. Thanks!

If my arms actually worked properly I'd do it for you. But they dont, and I'm generally a bit useless these days.
There's a few members in your neck of the woods though so hopefully someone will step forward.

I assume you'll be doing the cable at the same time, it really pays to.
Smokes lots, because enough's enough already!

Far too many BX's, a bus, an ambulance a few trucks, not enough time and never enough cash...

Alex it may be worth checking to see if you can fit a new cable and adjust it first, I was all set to fit a new clutch to my 19TZD, but after a new cable was fitted and adjusted accordingly all was well, just an idea!

Me too thinks it's worth to check cable and maybe the lever, too.

You may not have the right hills around but a clutch is definetely worn if you can't go up a hill anymore as before.

There are quite a few other problems related to the clutch that are worth checking before.

Im pretty sure the clutch will be the original, and at 101k miles it will be just my luck it goes pop on holiday with mates, plus its super high and my MOT bloke said get it done just to make sure.

Yep im off down to Geoffs, thanks again!

By the way, ive never known a car club/forum be so generous in terms of time, knowledge and of course parts!

I hope the clutch replacement went OK.

I"ve been in Plymouth and off the computer for a few days but was going
to offer assistance when I returned.

I am only 15mins from you (Erdington) so any time you need help in the
future please let me know.

Regards

Richard.
