I too think it's a case of more information needed. How recent are plugs, air filter, HT leads, coil etc? Have the injectorts ever been overhauled or replaced? Are any of the plugs fouled with oil or other deposits?

The Jetronic system on your car is an early - and probably quite basic - fuel injection system, though I don't know a lot about such things. It's probably the system fitted to Peugeot 205 GTi's with the 1.6 engine.
Back on two wheels and pedal power for the moment.

Here is something to check!

Fuel leak from somewhere :?:

This morning my work collegues observed the smell of petrol around my BX. No obvious sign of leakage just some stickyness around the Carb.

What we did find out was the four bolts that secure the carb to the inlet manifold had come loose. What with a spark plugs loose couple weeks ago it is a bit of a weird one. Well the fact that the Head was replaced 14 months and nearly 7,000 kms ago just shows things had not been tightened up enough.

Off Topic but would there be a possibility of the head bolts loosening as well?

I'd wait until the garage inspects your car 1st to find out what the issue(s) maybe, & then it might be worth putting some new tyres on it.

if you can tell us what petrol you are putting in that would help
are you using 91, 95 or 98 octane unleaded petrol??

wen was the last time the fuel injectors were cleaned out??

are you in stop start city traffic or highways

do you drive at high speed out in the country or with in the speed limits

my TZI with full load on a freeway gets about 12km/L driven at a constant speed of 110km/h
it gets 8km-9km/l in city traffic with no load on

i only use 98 octane fuel in my car

i run a tank of fuel with an approved injector cleaner in it about every 5,000 to 10,000km

oh and if you run a older car with fuel with ethanol in it it will run sluggish and consume more fuel
be kind to your car and run 98 octane as its better for yo9ur car and environment
