Well, there's no shortage of input! I need to get something sorted out soon. It's not practical to carry a complete set of replacement pipes for BXs hence the request for something that might well give us at least a chance to make a reliable repair at one of our stops should it be necessary...

Or I am I worrying unnecessarily and stop trying to cover all the bases?

I reckon you're probably worrying too much Phil!

A quick check over underneath should show up any pipes that are looking a bit shaky. They're no more likely to fail going round France than they are in the next few months of driving (although obviously the consequences are potentially worse...)

I guess the vast majority of the pipes aren't different between LHD and RHD either, so yes. I'm worrying too much.

I'm running out of time anyway.

(It's only a week away!)

FWIW (why do I keep putting that????) from experience, you're far more likely to get parts for a BX in France than over here.

The village where we lived had a little corner jack-of-all-trades garage which had a whole shedload of parts for my Mk1 - and what they didn't have they'd make. (I seem to remember posting about this waaay back on the old GSF forum)

The French don't share our throwaway UK values - I suspect you'll be fine.

A couple of years back I had no problems in getting a heavy duty (air con) alternator from a dealer at 6 on a Friday afternoon. Rather stupidly I had left my tools (and a spare alternator!) back home...
Fortunately the dealer was very helpful, fitted it the next morning and even waived the labour costs!

even if they aint got a clue how to fit a set of front to rear hydraulic pipes,

as a custoner of mine was over there on holliday, had a front to rear pipe go, so the recovery company took him to the hearest garge who fitted a full set of front to rear pipes, well if you can call it fitted,

on his return and a week or two later he had another hydraulic leak and youv got it one of the pipes they fitted in france had shafte through,

when i got under there to repair it it looked like someone had got all the new pipes twistted them up and chucked them up under the car,

i had never seen such a bodge up
