15" wheels

Post by douglas851 »

A simple question I hope.

Do 15" wheels from a Xantia bolt straight on to a BX?

simple answer, yes

slightly more complicated answer, the offset and PCD is okay, so the rims fit, but if you have too wide a tire (above 185 i think) then they will potentially rub at the rear.

I was thinking of using 195/50 or 195/55 on the 15" rims, which keeps the overall diameter almost the same. I presume then there are no clearance problems?

I found http://www.tyresave.co.uk/tyresize.html useful for checking the sizes.

I've got some Gutmann 15" rims to go on the 16V when I finally wear out the 14" tyres on the old rims - they're 7" width though, so probably 0.5" wider than the Xantia rims? Anyway, they fit with 205/50 tyres and only need 5mm spacers on the front to clear the calipers - not a great deal of help possibly, but aside from fitting them and finding out if you have clearance issues it's difficult to be 100% sure either way. As Vanny says, on a non-16V you may need to trim some of the arch liner away to give you full clearance right through the suspension travel.

It shouldn't be a major issue as peeps have fitted 17" rims to 16Vs with no issues with clearance, even on the rear.
