Thanks - very nice diagrams in that link. How easy is it to drop that complete rear subframe assembly - it looks very self contained from the picture - three bolts each side!. Steve

quite offten it is the cylinder body corrods through and springs a high presure leak,

and no you wont just be able to swap internal parts from a saloon cylinder to an estate unit as has been said they are diferent internal diamiters

I've looked in the manual and would assume that because the rubber gaiter is on, it has to be fixed in a certain position for one side and 180 degrees around for the other side.

thats what i thought, but all you would need to do is loosen the band clamp on the boot and rotate the boot so the spouts are faceing the right direction
