Strut Return Pipes

Post by kiwi »

Pretty sure I can remember someone posting they had done a modification/cheap repair to these when they decided to leak?

Anyone remember who and where the info was hidden?

Thanks for that

I went and had a look today and I was surprised to find the modification of an inner pipe had already been done. It had just come off that was all. Well I thought that was all until I dropped the car of the stands and as the car settled the damn pipe fell off again.

So I just slipped off a bit more rubber and pushed it in a bit further. Not sure how long it had been like that as no drips on the floor although the strut was a bit damp and the inside of the tyre showed some gung.

Should get it through its WOF/MOT next month even with the split CV boot I also found on the otherside. Although looking at the one under this return pipe I will probably change both on the TRS now.

They are not in New Zealand unless the grease and gung is interfering with the braking ability apparently. Although if the CV Joint is knocking then yes it would fail but a split alone is not a failure.....crazy

Yet if there is so much as a drible of LHM or a damp spot it will fail
