swop interior :- Hatch to Estate

Post by sdelasal »

Would an interior from a hatchback fit into a estate? I can't see why the front seats & door cards wouldn't but does anyone know if the rear seat and rear door cards from the hatch are the same as the estate? Steve

Yep, all directly interchangable mate.

Although do bear in mind that early and late rear seats can have different mounting holes where it's bolted into the floorpan.

Ok, let's take this up a level. In theory, because I suspect finding parts might be near impossible, how hard would it be to convert a Mk2 dash to Mk1? Too much exposure to Mk1 interiors (Todd and Andy's on the BXagon) has left me craving funky switchgear and gorgeous rotating drums...

Theoretically possible.
In so much as it'll bolt in, but I believe the heater box is different aswell, along with various other things, blower trunking etc..
I guess if you had a complete Mk1 to strip then you could do it..

Or at least all the bits from a Mk1 ready to go, but as you say, finding them could be a game!

Thanks Doc. I guess I can hold on to my dream. Or just buy a Mk1...

TBH that's what I'd say DW, get a Mk 1 and have done! Bide your time and see what father Christmas brings!
