gti 4x4 exhaust manifold

Post by christhelion »

Hi guys,

My car is blowing a bit at the manifold, I may be able to repair it but if not, are they any more expensive than a standard GTi? I know the rest of the exhaust is. And are they readily available if they are different?

The manifold is the same as the 8V GTi, however to get the manifold off the head in situ will be considerably more difficult than the GTi. These manifolds are prone to cracking, and the last one I did on a 4x4. I chose to remove the cylinder head complete with the exhaust manifold, as getting access to the rusted nuts on the underside of the manifold for cylinders 2 and 3 was all but impossible in situ from above or below the engine.
Welcome to the time consuming world of the BX 4x4 where you should always recon on taking at least three times as long to do the job compared to a normal BX.
