XU cam pulley retaining torque issues...

Post by jonathan_dyane »

A gentleman from the XM forum has asked me to post the following:

"The BX 1.6 petrol engine camshaft pulley has two sizes of retaining bolt, Haynes gives the torque figures for the larger bolt, if you use the Haynes figure with the smaller bolt you will end up with half the bolt in the end of the camshaft, and the other half on the floor! I was lucky, I stopped just in time, when I took the bolt out it had a wonderfull hourglass shape. And yes, I did take a few moments to thank the Gods. Kit."

A useful bit of info that may stop someone getting caught out...

Ahh yes, the good old BOL.
Autodata has the torques for both IIRC..
Smokes lots, because enough's enough already!

Far too many BX's, a bus, an ambulance a few trucks, not enough time and never enough cash...
