Computer wiring
The computer on my '87 GTI 8v has some wires that have detached from the wiring plug. Does anyone have a diagram for which wire goes where??

A very quick Google brings you to this website;

ignore that the text on the screen is not in english, the links are. The top link is to the electrical diagrams in the Haynes manual.

I hope this may help if your wire colours are the same? Some models may have all green wires instead of orange?? Depending on loom, all pins may have wiring attached.
There should be 15 pins on the cable multi-pin block, most are paths to neutral via the door, bonnet and boot switches. Disconnect the block. Using a small lead light, one end to + and then probe the back of the block to identify correct panel bulb location while operating the switches.
Looking at the block connector, with the wires facing away from you, and the block central locating wedge uppermost..
Pin 1 too the right, (n/c = no connection or, no contact)
1. n/c. possibly linked to 2
2. Orange, o/s/r door
3. n/c
4. n/c
5. Orange, o/s/f door
6. Orange, Group +. Possibly linked to 14
7. Orange, bonnet
8 Blue, illumination +
9 Blue, illumination, negative.
10. Seat Belts
11. n/c
12. Blue, also, possibly orange, n/s/f door
13. Orange, n/s/r door
14. Orange, boot
15. n/c
Apart from the seat belt illumination, any members any idea what the four corner bulb sockets were used for.
Many Thanks
Regards

Bonnet and front driver's door is not showing open when it is on the computer, I'll swap the bulbs around first but any ideas?
When you open the front driver's door doesn't turn on the interior lights either so I went to clean the contact switch near the door hinges but the wires came off and I can't trace then, I'm hoping they're routed from inside the rubber boot downwards.

UPDATE:
Managed to retrace wire but had to wrap a very thin split pin around it and then "fish" it through with a magnet! Interior now come on with the door open but the computer display is not reflecting it still. I've been reading that the display is not actually connected to the door open switches and instead it is a microswitch within the door itself. Well the door panel's already off so what am I looking for and is it easily replaced/repaired?
