Dash lights not bulbs

None of the dash bulbs on my TZD have worked from before I bought it, I pulled the dash pod out to try the bulbs to see if by any chance all the bulbs had gradualy failed but without joy. I read somewhere it is sometimes a duff earth but where is this found? anybody any clues?

Most likely cause is the dimmer under the steering shroud.

To test, take it out and connect the two wires together.

I can second that!

I spent a lot of last week with my dashboard in pieces trying to find out why my backlights don't work. I ended up knocking the dimmer switch with my knee and boom! bright as day! Haven't managed to fix it yet though. Maybe it just needs its contacts cleaned.

I have the same problem,the dimmer doesnt helps at all,no lights on the dash except the oil,engine tmp,and the basic lights=stop ,water,acu.

I will try today to bridge the dimmer plug.
My lights worked about a half an year ago,then i replaced the radio and they died slowly,sometimes went on but now dont work at alll
