YET another HP pump question.

Hiya guys an gals,

right, silly question time.................my 14TE, what pumps are fitted to these? Same as diesel or petrol or unique?

Or what models pump should i look out for if i want an emergency spare as it were?

Im not worried about its output at all, its quick as i could want to pump up and not having power steering its not working hard BUT if you watch it whilst running the pulley looks to be running well out of true and im now paranoid about failed bearings etc etc.

Diesels & petrols are different, i think that there are only 2 pumps, so one type will only fit that type of powerplant. I stand corrected if the more learned can share any differences & more pumps than what i think there are.

It's been a long time since I've looked at a 14TU car. Any chance of a piccy?
The 16 valve has a different pump, but suspect the 14 has a standard non 16v petrol pump..

Nah... I can't find the thread but didn't Owen S have a thread about this when he wanted to replace the pump on his BX14?

AFAIK the pump on BX14s is entirely different to the 16/19 non 16v pump.

Although Jon W says he thought on late BX14 models the pump is the same as 16/19... We need a picture!

Wellllllll.

looking at that lovely new 16 petrol pump, i think (fingers crossed) a 16 petrol one would fit OK with a little fiddling.

Anyone got a 16 petrol pump i can try?

I was under the impression petrol and diesel were different but that was all, spare petrol pumps are rare!

This would suggest that the 1.4 is different to the rest of the petrol range.

Ahh hang on, I remember that, I also remember a mate of mine having a spare pump for his 14TGE he once owned.

Thanks all, im very worried about the run out on the pulley and i cant afford to be without the car for now.

So tim, if your friend has a spare id be very interested if its surplus to his needs.
