Quick fuse question

Post by Dollywobbler »

Howdy

Which fuse controls the clock and central locking? Both seem to have stopped working and I've not got a book handy.

Hallo Ian

Don't have a book for your car but it may be the same for all late BX's ...So can you check:

1. Is your cigar lighter is working?

2. Are your interior lights working?

3. Glove compartment working?

4. Boot lighting working?

5. Radio working?

If none of the above are working then it could be Fuse number 8, (F8).
If some are working then it could be a bad connection. (big hassle).

If neither of the above then my book does not cover your car!

If it is F8 that has blown then establish why it blew .. did you plug something into your cigar lighter socket to overlaod it?

Thanks. I'll have a quick look now.

EDIT - looked. All the aforementioned are dead. Is the fusebox beneath the glovebox? Not looking forward to trying to see that!

Fuse box location

Post by Turboalternator »

Hallo Ian,

That is good news inasmuch as it is not a bad connection!

Never had to look for the fuse box but I think that under the glove box is where it is.

I think it swings open downwards.. so look out for some kind of release catch.

I've just seen an entry in the Haynes Manual. It could be that the fuse is F7. Depends on how old your car is. For later cars it's F7. If it's F7 then the fuse value is 30 amps and that is given as a green coloured fuse.

For older cars it's F8. If it's F8 then the fuse value is 20 amps and that is given as a yellow coloured fuse.

If it is the fuse and it keeps blowing on replacement please post again.

Please post feedback anyway for everyone!

Thanks

Thanks. What a pain in the arse! I've pulled muscles I didn't know I had trying to see what I was doing. New fuse in, everything works.
