Source for brass drift/ punch

Post by Aerodynamica »

Needed to do the reseating job of the ball bearing check valve in the regulator.

I tried a tools place to no avail - is there a recommended chain store for an appropriate brass drift?

no idea TBH..
I have an old piece of brass bar I use, can't even remember where I got it from, but I've had it for years, which isn't at all useful I'm afraid..
Smokes lots, because enough's enough already!

Far too many BX's, a bus, an ambulance a few trucks, not enough time and never enough cash...

Try RS Components, brass,SS,mild etc. They have a good size range of stock metals.

Or your local plumber for an old ball valve arm.

Nick the one from your loo, wife/girlfriend won't notice for a while :o :x

Regards.

Thanks guys - in the end I went to machine mart and picked up a whole punch/drift set including a series of brass items.

CX up on ramps, accumulator off, check valve retainer removed and punch set in ball bearing housing, one single hefty whack with a hammer to the brass drift to the ball and reassemble.

Regulator tick time has instantly gone from average 40 seconds to average 1'10" sec - massive change!

I think this procedure works.
