Hello folks
I'm going to keep the gearbox off the Red Rocket as a spare. I've never taken one off before. I have the Haynes and the Russek, which I am sure will give me the broad outlines, but can anyone share any tips, problems, workarounds, etc that they have come across? I'd be very grateful.
Cheers
Oscar

make sure you remove both drive shafts before un/bolting the box, especialy the O/S one as you will bend the inboard half of this shaft,

Assuming you're dropping it with the engine still in the car, then it's actually pretty straightforward, and covered well by both the BOL and Russek.
Getting the selector rods off can be a PITA but if you use the open end of a spanner under them to pry them off they usually pop off pretty well.
Only other thing that makes life a lot easier is if you remove the gearbox mount stud (deep reach 18mm socket IIRC), this makes it a good deal easier to clear the chassis leg.
