17TD. More power?

Post by richardd1652 »

Are there any means of giving my TD a bit more go? I dont mean dropping in a V8 truck engine or anything daft, just thought there might be some after market higher output turbos or something from the pug boy racers out there?

you wont need a bigger turbo.
You can, if you're nuts, get 150BHP from a 17TD.
I did, and it went like hell, for 300 miles...

There's a lot of info about fettling the boost pressure and fuelling on this here forum.
The "search" function be your friend here..
Smokes lots, because enough's enough already!

Far too many BX's, a bus, an ambulance a few trucks, not enough time and never enough cash...

Upped the fuelling, T3 turbo, bigger valves (so big I had to scollop the top of the bores..), ported the head, upped the boost etc etc.. It wsn't actually hard to get the HP, it was much harder to make it reliable.
3 Heads in 3000 miles got a bit silly..
It now runs 115bhp fairly happily..
