Differences in HP pump for diesel?

Post by toddao »

Does anyone know the difference between the two HP pumps specified for the BX diesel? One is listed by Citroen as 'Diam 90' and the other 'Diam 120' - the latter is also specified for the petrol.
Which one would fit my Mk.1 diesel ( 1985)? The one that is available is 'Diam 90'. Unfortunately I can't compare the two side by side. Thankyou.
Todd

News to me

I didn't think there was any difference in any of the diesel ones, all the diesel engines are basically the same and the pumps are camshaft driven, so I can't see why there should be any difference. :?

i think the only diference between the two size's of H/P for a diesel,
is one has 5 pistons the other has 7,

but the should both fit any diesel BX,

Thankyou for replies. As long as it fits I won't worry myself what 'diam 90' and 'diam 120' are!
I've got the chance of a new HP pump coming from dead stock at a Citroen garage. The only info provided is the number.
There was also a new doseur available for €60 but I missed it!

90mm & 120mm are the belt pulley diameters. They're different on the BX and XM (I think) Gibbo.

Ok, Malcolm, hope this is the right info :

chassis no. (last 8 digits) - 20XCO225 -

and Citroen part no. 95589238 for the pump.

Thankyou.

were did you take that No. from as i didn't think it is a chassis No.,

i tried putting it into service citroen and it came back with No. not known,

the cahssis/VIN No. is the one stamped into the O/S rain chanle under the bonnet, or look on your registration document for the VIN No.

all i require is the last 8 digits

Yes, I took the number from the rain channel. I think perhaps there's some German variation? I can't look again now as the car is tucked in the barn now which is about 1km away ( Medieval houses didn't come with parking spaces).
Thanks Malcolm

I got the impression from somewhere that there was a different pump fitted depending on whether you had power steering or not ?

i dont think it makes any diference were in the world the car is from with service citroen's site,

as i am sourcing some parts for a guy in AUS at the moment, i used his chassis No. and it found his car,

mind if there are any oval's with chevrons in in amongst the No., these are taken as space's, so you dont count them as it wont accept space's,

dont you have a registration document in Germany as it should be on that,

i agree with electrokid im sure that would be the need for a pump with more pistons, so larger body
