Creaking front brake cables ?

Post by Eric Brough »

A couple of months back I renewed both parking brake cables. Since then I've been increasingly aware of a creaking noise when the steering is turned towards full lock.

I've just sprayed the cables in WD40 where they pass through their guidance hoops and it seems the noise is reduced/gone.

Anyone else encountered this? Any thoughts on a longer term solution - the WD's lubricating effect wont last long!

Thanks, Eric

Try spiral cable tidy wrap around the guides. 4-6mm ID.
Spaced not to leave any large gaps.

Also avoids wear on brake cable outer covering

Good idea! I put small 'O' rings around the guides on one of my BX's to similar effect .............
