Talk to me about doseurs....

Post by Kitch »

Time for another major component to be renewed! The good Doc says it\'s do-able on a valver with engine in situ, all be it tilted forward a bit which sounds like a recipe for skinned knuckles and swearing, and possibly another fist shaped dent in the wing.

How many types of these things are there, just the one? I\'m pretty sure it\'s what\'s gone...back end very slow to rise and sinks within about 5 mins of the engine being shut off. Brakes are pretty weak too.

And lastly is it worth rebuilding it, or just ringing up Pleidies (sp)??

Ta!

piss easy mate.
How urgent?
It's past time I came and ruined your day again, so I'll gladly bung one in for you if you like.
Not sure rebuild kits are still available so if you dont have a known good used item (and I dont, Smiffy pinched my last decent one for his fresh air BX) so Plaijhjdsfhjgdshgdsjkhfkifkrfhghjdbvjkds jkshvkhes could be your best bet.

I *think* Mk1's had a different valve? or output ports or some shit?
But I've used Xm / Xantia valves on BX's before with no issues.

Yeah you\'ll have to come down see the new pad!

BAH is going on the road again, I even convinced Nat to let me SORN the Saxo instead! But the doseur I\'m pretty sure is shot through. I\'m up for changing it, but with you around sharing expertise on which bits to remove to speed the job up would be much appreciated! I\'ve also got to try and sort my ABS sensors out...ABS light=FAIL! I know I can hook it up to the oil evel gauge to make the light behave, but I like having the ABS and I\'d never drive a car which had an ABS badge on the boot if it didn\'t actually have it.

Oh, wait, err estate!

My money will be on the OSF sensor, which sadly, I dont have any of anymore, and they aint easy to find these days.

As long as your nipples are free ( ) then maybe an hour of dosieuring then off to the pub!

This sounds like a thoroughly decent plan! Theres a crackin pub down the road called the Osbourne View. They do proper beer and they have little romantic candles on the tables, so it\'ll make it a lovely evening.

I've got spare sensors if you need Kitch, let me know once it's been diagnosed and i'll run one down to you or if this is a weekend event i'll pop down with a selection...
I have zero patience for your tedium.

Spot on Jay! I\'ll hit it with the multi-meter over the weekend hopefully! Does anyone know the resistance they should be at?

Cheers

erm... I should, I've not long done the same tests, but I can't remember for the sodding life of me!
I'll wager it's the OSF though, it nearly always is!

That is spot on! Thanks mate. And what a decent write-up too! I can test the sensors without even removing a wheel!

I love the BX :D

if the ABS sensors are becomeing thinn on thr ground, wouldnt it make more sence to check for a fractured lead/wire and repair it, as i dont think they sensor itself die's very often,

Weird, I got over 1000 on both O/S sensors, but nothing at all one the N/S sensors :s

I don\'t believe for one minute they\'ve both just died at the same time (unless something is capable of killing them!) so I\'m going to have lots of fun tracing the fault. I always suspected the N/S might be playing silly buggers as the NSF sensor got caked in CV grease once and once cleaned off the light went out. It came back on about a week later though. All seems slightly odd.

Anyway, it\'s second on the list because it won\'t start, despite it\'s decent supply of air, oil and fuel. Tomorrow probably won\'t be fun!
