The Horn

I removed the horn, cleaned up the contact part, fitted it back & it still didn't work, then whilst i was out driving it worked

Does the horn only work when the engine is running? Reason i ask is that when i tested the horn the engine wasn't on, so that's why i presumed it was still buggered. Or is there another issue that needs sorting out?

I think my horn works all the time.

It could be that there's still a bad connection somewhere, which the electriky managed to jump as a result of the increased voltage when the engine's running.

Horn is live all the time regardless of ignition etc.

At this point I'd be tempted to say th horn itself is probably on the way out, either that or you have a break in the feed wire maybe... Personally I think the horns on it's last legs.

Strangely enough i checked it again today with the engine off & it works

So i'll keep an eye out to see if its a bit intermittent, perhaps it just needed waking up so now its back in rude health

I still fancy getting that much louder horn, don't suppose anyone has a spare horn that'll blast the pissy little one thats standard fit into the weeds, available?

My latest acquisition "mud" failed it's last mot on among other things "the horn cannot be heard by other road users"

So they fitted a replacement horn, don't know what it came off but it'll be coming off again shortly
