Nearside abs sensor 17tzd

Post by Richieg »

Hi Guys,
Haven't posted on here for about a year mainly because i forgot my username and password!! DOH!!
Guys i am in dire straits right now,my car has failed its MOT on the nearside ABS sensor ,would anyone either know where i could purchase one or know the part number??

I have asked Citroen and they were bloody unhelpfull to be honest well my local dealer any way!!
Tried other motor factors and they couldn't care less either

Any help or advice would be absolutely magic as my poor car is down my local garage just sitting there ,everything is at a standstill until i can sort this asap

cheers

Thanks Malcolm
I have just found another site called Ignition car parts based in Basildon Essex
There are various part numbers which have completely confused the hell out of me so i am going to call them tomorrow and see what the score is . . :D
£303 for a sensor sounds quite high doesn't it?
I am not very clued up on all this as my mechanic has told me he can't get the part so it is now my problem!!
I will try GSF tomorrow too
Thanks for your help Mate!

cheers

front or rear?

AFAIK hey are NLA from Citroen, certainly they couldn't get any last time I tried, a few months back.
GSF dont keep them anymore either.
Erm.. If it's a front one, then secondhand is an option if you can find one, sadly I have no usable spare sensors left.
If it's a rear, then, erm, you usually can't remove them without destroying them...
Smokes lots, because enough's enough already!

My thoughts on this subject are "Does it really have to be a Citroen part?"

The brakes are made by brake specialists and supplied to many different car makers, maybe a careful look around will find a match from some other vehicle. It is after all only a basic eletronic component, the differences mostly only in the fitting and length.

There are hundreds listed on Ebay. Gibbo.

as i said earlier it is more oftten tjhan not just a fractured cable/wire,

work out at what point the wire flex's and that will be the area to cut it open, repire, heat shrink and bung it back together,

Tha last one I had failed citronut I thought the same, I disconnected it under the back seat, snipped off the connectors, tested, no better, snipped off the next inch,no better, then the next and the next all the way back to the backplate, never found a break :( Gibbo.

ok no worrys Gibbo,

all i ment was its daft lobbing these sensor's out if they can be fixed,

especialy if they are becomeing harder to source,

i also think that some of you electricery types on here will come up with a better way to test were the fractured/failed area is,

I'm not a electrickery person, but if a break is thought to be somewhere along a certain length of wire, the logical route might be to just replace the wire.

If you need to find the exact point of a break between two points then the quickest method is to keep halving the distance along the wire where you position a continuity test. I.E. on a 5m length test at 2.5m - if the test fails then the break is in the first half, if not it's in the second half. Repeat this a few times and you'll rapidly find the break. :)
