Steering column

Post by Dollywobbler »

The BX is lapping up the miles at the mo, but has started generating some really irritating minor squeaks from the steering wheel/column shroud. The wheel is catching on the shroud slightly, but I think the shroud or column is also generating another squeak. There seems to be a bit of movement up and down if you heave on the wheel, though not enough to worry a MoT man.

Is there a top bush that can be replaced?

It's more likely to be the bottom bush thats dropped out of the tube at the base of the column if you've got movement. You will need to work it back up inside and as there seems nothing that holds it up, a ty-rap beneath it keeps it in place. :D
