19TGD Steering Rack

My 19TGD has play in the power rack.Is it a bugger of a job to swap?

Not too bad on a 1.9 n/a diesel. Would be easier access wise if you remove the exhaust downpipe first. Otherwise not really too bad IMO. Biggest ball-ache will be getting the hardy disc undone from the column and possible undoing the pipes, as you\'ll be reaching up and feeling for them. I\'d pull it out the driver\'s side too, but then I did mine with the engine out. Got pics if you need them.

I've done a few recently, and, as with most things, the more you do the quicker the job gets.
The biggest arse of the whole job is the two pipes in the side of the pinion.
Not too bad on a NA but an utter arse on a TD, I know not why since they are the t'other side from the blower, but still, an utter ballache.

You can actually get the rack out, and back in without removing the ram, but you will need to remove the gear selector swivel off the top.
Smokes lots, because enough's enough already!

Far too many BX's, a bus, an ambulance a few trucks, not enough time and never enough cash...
