This may be a daft idea, but is it possibly the front drain tube(s) that are causing the problem rather than the windscreen seal? I guess if you sealed up the sunroof & that stops te problem that would indicate that it is?

It would, but I would have to go to the trouble of fitting a sunroof first, just to seal it up again - which seems like a waste of effort to me... :lol:

:o :lol: :lol: Didn't realise you didnt have a sunroof, i forgot that most estates didn't :oops: See, i know bugger all even after 4 years of bx ownership :lol: Leaves room quickly with hoody up :wink:

Actually, I wouldn't mind a sunroof. But I'd want the ability to easily open it fully rather than flip it up, so that rules out the aftermarket types.

Anyway, it's not the windscreen! :? I've pulled off the trim (breaking the driver's side A pillar trim due to cold brittle plastic and hamfistedness) and can see no leaks. I'm off now to lay upside down in the footwell in the rain to see whether I can make anything out.

What you need to do is fill the footwells up with coloured water, then turn the car quickly upside down - you'll soon see where the leaks are!

Citro Jim wrote another sterling article in the Citroenian about finding leaks in Xantia's, ok, we'll ignore the car aspect, but the method of finding the leak was simple, and I'd never thought of it!
Coloured water in a watering can, pour over car, look in car to see where the coloured water is coming in! Genius!

That's a cracking idea, but I may have found the source! I was injecting the A pillars with wax this morning and when I pushed the hose down, towards the wheel, I could hear it bubbling as if they had filled up with water. I vaguely remember reading something about that on here ages back - if it is then finding its way inside the cabin (grommet maybe, don't know if there is one?) that would explain why I can't see a trickle from any of the door or windscreen apertures, more of a seep from the soundproofing foam. Question is how is it getting in? My guess is the lap joint above the hinge as there are signs of rust there....

ahhhh, take the rubber grommet out the bottom end of the A pillar.
There's a little lip at the base of it, where the sunfoor drain tubes drain (if you had one like), might be worth giving them a prod with a bit of wire to see if they are clear?
