Just checked, we got the air from the pipe.

Air is good news i think. It had potential to breathe.

I wouldn't know how to check the diaphragm yourself tho. I think you have to get the fuel pump out of there for that?

You dont have to remove the pump from the car, but it is a bloody fiddly job on a Lucas pump.
Less so on the Bosch since it sits on top of the pump.

Either way, unless you really know what you are doing the potential for bufferig it up is quite large so you'd probably be better off popping down to a diesel injection specialist.
Smokes lots, because enough's enough already!

Far too many BX's, a bus, an ambulance a few trucks, not enough time and never enough cash...

Well we took the pump off and didn't manage to do any damage but from what I was told it looked 'like new' so can't think if there's a problem with it.

It's going into the Citroen garage soon to get the arm bearing's done and will explain all about the problem to the garage to hopefully get it sorted as it's doing my head in.

just a word of warning.. depending on the Cit garage's experience and how far their expertise extends, they may not know about the pumps. I took mine to the No.1 in Dublin and he thought maybe the fueling had been turned down to pass emissions tests, but did suggest the diesel pump guys 'might' be able to diagnose. I lived with it like that for 8 months or so and it really did my head in as i really wanted some turbo oomph. The garage had recommended i take it to this particular diesel fuel injection specialist, but i was sceptical imagining all sorts of other problems. When i finally took it down i wasn't hoping for much, but when they'd replaced the part, you wouldn't have believed the smile on my face as i drove away! Although the pump may look ok, the diaphragm is inside, i would hedge a bet as to that is what the problem is here.

Good luck :)
