how do i remove the front indicator lamps please?

Post by johnbird »

there is a little green algae in the corners of the indicator lights.easiest way to remove it i guess is take the unit out and dishwasher it.had a quick look but its not obvious how these remove.after cutting my fingers to ribbons changing the heater illumination bulbs i thought it best to ask.

Ball & socket mountings (see figure), can be carefully prised out.

The lonely socket in the outer corner should be slided sideways after prising out the two on the inner side: http://www.rmattila.com/images/remontit ... ikkeet.jpg

Be careful when removing the headlight, i managed to break one of mine, some superglue & gaffer tape soon fixed her back up & currently still fitted to the car over 2yrs later, but annoying none the less.

As per rmattila regarding lights.

As the BX gets older you will have lots of issues, its part and parcel of owning one but you will always get great help from members of this forum.
Some of the niggles will be an easy fix but a lot wont.
My last problem was 2 days ago but a minor one thank heavens, it was the first problem since the MOT last March. Am now waiting for the next one, a long wait may it be too i hope.

The plastic headlight mounting sockets get brittle with cold weather (and age) so warm water over them helps if you are taking the lights out in winter.
