ooh - my first 'quote'.... no haven't driven one - unfortunately none to try. This will be an arranged marriage borne purely out of statistics and escalating fuel cost. I used to keep a shogun in reserve but never seemed to actually be in it when required - more frustrating than not having one.

I think you do not really need to justify owning any type or number of BXs.

We have pointed out the disadvantages, now you can go ahead and build/buy a crazy French 'up and down' car.

I tried to buy this but couldn't get any pictures before auction end and wasn't prepared to travel without some indication it was ok first (£200 approx from Isle of Wight) - still on the lookout... this is no longer technical

BX 4x4 in the making

Post by djm666 »

I have 2 BX 4x4's and o have never driven a car that can ride over a ploghed field at 100mph and still be in full control. yes they are underpowered and would have been better to have 16v under the bonnet, but i am loving what it can do, anywhere in comfort.
i have changed one 2wd BX to 4x4 as i had to re shell one once. it was not to hard, i have all the original citroen genuine books for repair and maintanance. and it would be better if you had a BX 4x4 to rob the bits from. also i am writting a small book for my self to keep track of the parts that citroen say are no longer available and i find that parts from other car that you can make fit.
so dont listen to anybody else who says no it cant be done find a person who says yes i can. or do everything yourself.

Hi djm,

I would love to see a write up on this project at some stage, with lots of pictures! It's a shame we never got any 4x4 BX's, (or 405's for that matter) here in AUS.

Cheers,
Chris

It took me a bit to notice who'd started this thread.

If you asked me for pictures and I never delivered I must have scan read an email from you and missed it. I'll provide any pictures you want.

I've been a bit too busy to be selling a car of late.. trying to make ends meet and switching between the which ever vehicle is less broken at any given time to get to work - the transit or the bike. doing whatever temporary bodges I can afford to either as well.

The point being, I apologise if I ignored any request. I've got a less busy day tomorrow (after I take pictures of my bike for sale, try get a loan and fit a radiator in the van) so if you list what you want to see I'll take some pics. I'll take pics of any flaws I find to so you can assess it if you like.
Pics of the extrerior of the car never come out great because it's in a poorly lit carpark underground.
