drive shaft outer CV retaining circlip

Hi all

Whilst waiting for parts to be delivered (it takes a long time to get anything down-under) I thought I'd present a question about the circlip that holds the outer cv joint in place. When removing my outer joint, the retaining circlip revealed itself albeit 2/3rds of its original self. Could not find the "broken off" bits so have no idea where they wound up, but clearly pieces from both ends of the circlip have been broken off..

Q: not sure of my chances of easily sourcing appropriate circlip, so posing the possibility that the use of said circlip may be dispensed with.(ie put it back together without the clip) Am I right, or will this lead to calamity some time down the road (literally)?... otherwise I'm up for sourcing this circlip or salvaging one from a really hard the disassemble hub/shaft.

if you run it for a prolonged period it will wear the spline's down as it moves in and out on the shaft,

these are still avalible and if you post me the last 8 digits of your chassis/VIN No. i will try and get the part No. and price from service citroen,

i think they were only sold in packs of 10,

i do have a packet of snap rings to fit XANT's which could well be the same

I try our local "guy" and see if he doesnt treat me with distain for it a) being for a BX b) being a presumably small sale.

If no luck I'll flick you my VIN ...and take it from there

here is price and part No. to fit a diesel BX it may well be the same for petrol,

but i cant find it for a petrol car except in a gaitor kit,
