wing removal

Post by RobC »

some nasty person has dented my front wing. looks like the only way to fix it will be to push out from the inside.

so i'm gonna take the wing off. haynes says it's just a two spanner job - anything to look out for that could trip me up?

ta and happy bx-ing.

Try to lubricate any threads on any of the securing bolts that you can access, the worst one is under the wheel arch just above where the bumper meets the wing. You may end up grinding this one off and then refitting a standard nut and bolt. :?

Whilst your at it, with the bumper off, check and treat and patches of rust.

On a 16V, the bodykit piece at the front of the sill has a tab on it that is screwed to the front outer wing, which is then hidden away behind the arch extension bodykit section bonded to the wing.

I'm yet to work out to access this before you take the wing off and snap this small bit of GRP apart :?:
