slow to rise

Post by tzd »

Hi all,
My TZD Saloon is taking quite a long time to rise in the morning, if I don't touch the accelerator it will take anything from 1 minute 30 sec to 2 minutes to rise. What are the possible causes? Is there such a thing as a weak pump?

The accumulator seems to be working fine it doesn't tick all the time only every minute or so.
What is it like to change the pump? difficult job or a piece of cake ?

Not too bad at all Kev really, bit fiddly but ok, started the TRS up from cold and it was at full height within 20 seconds!

New ones ARE available from GSF but im sure someone will have one.

How quickly does the car sink after you switch off?

hi Roverman,
it seems to take quite a while to sink maybe about 15 minutes before you notice it sinking.

My Bx stands for days before it sinks. I know its sorn and the struts are stiff but the back end is traditionally soft. Have you tried flushing the system incase there's any crap in there?

Hmm it should stay up for longer than that (as the actress said to the bishop), Sounds like accu sphere is tired! For what they cost I would put a new one on.

Yesterday I started up without touching the accelerator and it took 1 minute and 26 seconds to reach normal ride height.
As of yet I haven't done anything to fix the problem but I will flush the system once I get a second mortgage for the LHM. I will look at the filter to see if it is blocked in any way.

How low is the car when it sinks, is it of on its bumpstops? If so the rise time i reckon isn't too bad, if its only about half way down from the normal ride height then possibly a small issue? Also, when it rises does it do it smoothly or is it in jerks?

Hydraurincage (Lhm flushing fluid) is available from Gsf for a reasonable price now.

I was having a read last night and if you look in the FAQ section there is an article about similar problems to yours (sinking) and it points to a leaking doseur valve. Might be worth checking.

Ive been told the doseur valve on the TZi needs replacing as its slow to rise in comparison to the other two, I fitted a new accu sphere last year and fresh LHM and it did improeve things.

If it were me I would try fresh LHM and a new accu sphere first as they are the cheapest options. Over 1 minute to raise up is VERY slow, sorry

My white 16v took about 15-20 seconds to rise... after it had been stood not running for over a year  And it takes about 3 days to sink halfway at the rear...

Not bragging or anything

It used to sink very quickly at the rear, after about an hour it was on its bumpstops at the rear. Then one day after some extremely heavy braking, the doseur let go, started leaking. With the new one fitted the car was fixed!

the doseur valve does not usualy have anytyhing to do with getting it up quick,

but it is usualy the culprit for the BX rear droping to the floor soon after engine off,

as the rear suspension returns through said valve so when its internal seals get a bit old they cant hold the presure,

but this does not usualy affect the noremal runnig/driving,

when struts and or rear suspension units get old there seals may not hold mains system presure,

so this can cause the car to sink quickly after engine off,

Hi Guy's,
just had the reservoir out and all seems clean, the filter wasn't blocked at all but I gave it a wash anyway.
I looked at the pump and it is wet around that area quite a bit of LHM on the belt and on the pump pulley, it looks like I need a new pump.
Anybody near me got one ?

Kev.
