lhm pump

Post by tzd »

Hi Guys,
just a quick question ? Is the LHM pump the same all the way through the production life? I.E. is the same pump used through all models?

Kev
It isn't just a car it is a BX and it's my BX. Long live the BX.

No.

16/19 petrols are the same, and 17/19 Diesel models are the same, but every other one is unique to the engine. In the case of the 14 engine, that's available in Suitcase (XY engine) or later (TU) engine variant.

My old 1.4 Leader with the suitcase engine had a pump operated via the engine camshaft if my memory serves me right.

I thought my 14RE ran of a belt from the main drive pulley?

lhm pump

Hi Dave,
I had no idea of that !
I think the mark 1 Bx had a different configuration as to where the high pressure port is positioned but I didn't know about the cam belt pump.

it would have been driven by a belt from a pully on the end of the cam shaft,

as the only direct drive pump i have seen on a hydraulic citroen, is on all the GS/A modles, as this was a single piston pump with a small conrod running on the oil pump drive,

Yes, apologies. It was my CX 2000 with no pas. They had a single cylinder hp pump operated by the camshaft.

i have not seen a CX with a single piston direct drive pump either,

as far as im aware the CX had either a 5 or 7 piston rotary belt driven pump, dependant on year/modle,

i think some of the D's had some sort of single piston pump,

ID's and I think some low spec later DS's had a single piston pump, as do the G range of course. I believe that some very early non-PAS CX's also had the DS/ID type single piston pump, although Dominic Weston should be able to confirm this.
