RXBX and I (well I stood around passing tools and getting in the way) changed the drivers door on the GT today ready for the "big one". When we took off the door panel to get at the wiring we noticed that the plastic/foamy type soundproofing panel was as it left the factory 26 years ago, indicating it had never been touched. I would have just ripped the old one off and stuck it back on with masking tape.
However after getting a "start" on one corner, we found that if you roll the shaft of a decent sized screw driver between the door and the panel it sticks to sufficiently to pull it away from the door as your turn the screwdriver but not much the it rolls round the shaft and gets in a mess.
Which means I can reuse the original sondproofing again! Quality!

Lots of Motors, mostly semi broken....
Great idea..I never quite know how to treat that insulation stuff
I'm just about ready to rip the driver's door off the TRi so that I can have the door re-welded and aligned correctly..
At the moment it sits askew being badly welded after the original weld fatigued..
