These have never failed me yet!!!

On the small one once tightened, I place a socket with a small extension and clout the end of that.

It's off!!!

Thanks to a friendly local Cit enthusiast (D's, Xantia and AX) I had access to an appropriate tool. So yes with suitable leverage, the accumulator sphere surrendered very easily...

So thanks for all the advice and support given here..

As a bonus, (and as was hopefully expected), the HP pump is now seriously quieter as a result of a fresh accumulator.. Still a bit chattery but no where near as percussive and intrusive as it was previously..So double, no triple bonus from installing the new accum.

Excellent result. A fresh accu sphere makes all the IMHO. On a side note i had trouble removing the oil filter on my Honda Firestorm[local grease monkey had set the torque wrench too high i think]. Putting that much force into it i was actually lifting the bike off the side stand! In the end i decided to try and tighten it further and that cracked it.
