pedal box removal / clutch cable....

Post by themildbunch »

the only down side with the one Citroën might supply now will be, that silly little nylon colar you have to snap into the boss of the outter cable, were it ,mounts into the pedle box
I thought I'd 'whip' out the pedal box this morning and drop it off at my local back street garage to weld / strengthen the frame as the accelerator bracket is very weak and bent out sideways...

I just can't seem to get enough cable slack to move the box enough to unclip the clutch cable..... I've slackened off the cable at the gearbox end and removed it from the clutch arm / I've removed the throttle cable and all pedal box bolts...

My 91 TZD has a white plastic bit that I think Malcolm is referring to above... What's the trick with this? Do you need to pull out this clip before the end of the cable? I really don't want to break anything and have to replace the whole cable!

Should you need a cable I have a new one on my shelf, I always kept one ready after getting stuck once miles from home with a broken one.

No longer a BX owner so it's surplus now, it may or may not be genuine Citroen, it's for the diesels and its overall length is approx 150cm, printed on it i:s

P JACOTTET - 06 - 87

If anyone's interested it can go for £8 + £4 p&p

ok - I've had an interesting chat with our local specialist who had a lot to say about these newer clutch cables and their little white clips..... nothing good

as I really don't want to get into doing a cable replacement if I break it I think I'm going to leave this alone for now - the accelerator mount isn't too bad and doesn't look like it'll shear off anytime soon although that side of the pedal box is weakening...
