Any other jobs

I will be getting the clutch and clutch cable changed next week at Dave Ashworth's, along with a cambelt change. As i understand it, it is a gearbox out job. Any other jobs worth doing at the same time, whilst the 'box is out. Driveshaft oil seals, check of 'octopus' etc. Cheers Mark.

check ball joints & that big rubber bush on the lower engine mount.. opportunity to clean up all the lhm derived crap on and around the lower sub-frame. Any suspension bushes whilst you're around there too.

Going to de-gunk the engine bay on my next set of day's off. Popped my LHM cherry last week when i changed the old fluid and cleaned the filters. Old LHM not too grimy and the filters were surprisingly clean. Swilled out the tank with some petrol and wiped dry. Note to self: remember the tank is razor sharp

I used some sandpaper around the rim to avoid cutting myself in future as mine was razor sharp. This was while it was emptied & before i re-filled it, don't want any bits in your new lhm. I presume you removed the white disc in the bottom of the tank? Usually underneath its full of crap, unless your car has been looked after very well of course, which is rare?

the white disc of plastic is about 5"inch's in diamiter, and is there to colect any crap under it to stop it re/circulating into the system,

it sits on the first ledge near the bottom of the tank,

you could probably make one from a piece of ice cream tub,

OK cheers for that. Have heard about the mystical white disc but haven't seen one in captivity yet. On a serious note any ill effects possible if i run without one. The filters looked very clean and the LHM still had that luminous colour. After swilling the tank with petrol a lot of residual LHM came away though.

Its just designed to encourage any crap to circulate to the bottom of the tank, its worth having, but i'd be surprised if it had been removed?? Perhaps you didn't notice it?
