Coolant warning light?

Post by Paul296 »

My coolant warning light keeps coming on intermittently (usually when i go round a corner or over a bump). I've checked the coolant level and it all seems fine - anyone got any ideas?

Is it just the water level light, or is it water level + hydraulics + oil pressure? Low oil pressure will cause all of them to light, and low oil level may lead to intermittent low oil pressure at bumps and corners.

It's just the water level light (bottom right of the rev counter)

Check the connections on the level sensor plug on the header tank. Failing that it could mean a new sensor. :(

Thanks Ken. It did occur to me that it was probably the sensor rather than anything wrong with the cooling system - I'll check the connection on the sensor - if that's OK, is it a difficult job to replace the sensor? (bare in mind I am a Haynes 'two spanners' doing stuff to cars type person! :D )

I fiddled with the sensor connection at the back of the header tank and it seems to have cured it? Do I get another 'spanner' now? :D
