Yes just unscrew, you may need to use a filter strap or similar if it is too tight or been over tightened. When you put the new one up it helps bleeding if you have pre-filled it with diesel first throught the centre (pre-filtered) hole in the middle of the filter, make sure both inner and outer seals are lubricated. Tighten until sealing faces mate + 1/4 of a turn (do not over tighten). Undo the top (10mm) bleed screw and using the hand primer pump the air out until pure diesel comes out then retighten.(if you fully filled the filter you can somtimes get away with just starting it and leaving it ticking over for a few minutes to self bleed without undoing the bleed screw.

Stuff some rag under it to catch diesel, unscrew filter, replace (including swapping water drain off the bottom if not supplied with new one). Loosen bleed screw (10 or 11mm bolt iirc) located on top right of primer head). Prime, then tighten bolt. Fire up. Jobbed.
Mind use marigolds or you'll get your hands dirty
P.s. don't forget to remove aforementioned rag... it doesn't look good wrapped round the alternator pulley.

I have zero patience for your tedium.

I've never had a new filter supplied without a new drain plug already fittedRoverman wrote:I was going to say there is a hole in the other end so will be swopping the drain plug!
