Clutch Cable Fitment

I have a new old stock genuine clutch cable, part number 95162700, im hoping it will fit my 19TZD?

Anyone?

Lots of Motors, mostly semi broken....

Surely that's due to the clutch pressure plate & mechanism, not the cable? :?

It is often the cable so it should be first port of call IMHO.

Can anyone give an idiot's guide to changing the clutch cable on a TZD without actually removing the engine or at least large parts of it? I can't for the life of me see how to do it as there's no way to get at the bulkhead on the engine bay side to get at the fittings.

That's the easy bit though - I got that far last time. But the cable holder is attached to the bulkhead from the engine side, and I couldn't get the cable through the holder/grommet bit without breaking it. So clearly I'm missing something, but what? (Apart from a load of brain cells, obviously... :oops: )

I think it's usual to remove the bottom engine mount by the driveshaft so you can get the engine forward as much as possible to get access from below... Probably removing some of the turbo trunking would help too..

I'm not going there though unless it actually snaps!

I have a new cable as a spare too but this adds to the difficulty due to the revised arrangement on the pedal box side with the white nylon snap ring which is apparently a lovely fiddly citroen type thing to get you swearing...

I've always found that it's possible to push the new cable up through the rubber grommet thingy working from underneath the car.
It's helps if there are two of you when doing the clutch cable, but it is do-able on your own.

I'll have another look next time it's up on the ramp, but I'm sure I remember deciding the cable would only go through the grommet by breaking something. We'll see.

:? well as a clutch cable is peanuts compared to having a new clucth fitted (not in my realm of mechanics) and has previous cured a very sticky stiff clutch on the valver iim gonna try that first! :wink:
