BX 16 exhaust

Post by messerschmitt owner »

Does anyone know of a cheap supplier of a complete system for a BX 16 Auto (and if there is a difference between the auto system and one for a manual car)

I'll call Bourne tomorrow - today I may venture underneath with a baked bean can in hand

The manual and auto are the same exhaust as far as Im concerned, as mentioned I'm sure Barry has plenty of BX exhausts, failing that ebay may turn up a few parts.

Before fitting new exhaust boxes I always paint them to keep the rust at bay that little bit longer.

Tim
Just eaten my baked beans and fitted repair section - the pipe had totally split - looking at mine I have a long downpipe and the back box with no middle box. All of the diagrams imply I should have another centre box but there looks like no space to fit one.

As far as I can tell too, the back box is the same regardless of BX engine.

I still have a slight blow further down where the front and rear sections fit - but at least car is roadworthy again.

The exhaust design is the same on all BX's hatches but with different front pipes, from there backwards there are two different sorts, carb petrol (and 16TXI) and non turbo diesel and then for 1.9 injection models and T/D.

The middle box is a "cross box" that sits in front of the spare wheel carrier.

ah, mine is straight through, which may explain the rubbish alignment at the back!

I remember having that box on the diesels years ago now.

Someone did it on the cheap last time ...
