Windscreen Seal

Post by Tim Leech »

The one on the DTR will have to come out when the paint on the A posts is taken care off, is it a case of just cut it off and get a new one?

Thanks

Be careful removing it Tim. Citroen lists it as NFP. Took me ages to source a NOS one.

I would imagine it just pulls off. I'm still holding out for a NOS bronze windscreen before I do mine. Once the screen is bonded in, the seal will be held in place by mastic, I would have thought.

NO ! ( but virtually impossible to refit correctly, unless a new windscreen is being refitted ) !

NT Louth had one - the screen company I used in January could get a pattern one but this has rounded top corners rather than squared off. Fits but looks slightly different, if that bothers you

i belive they are fitted onto the edge of the glass before it is bonded into place,

so to do a proper job it will need the screen removeing,

MK2 ones just pull out easily, are they similar? We had the scrappers screen out last week all in one piece.

I pulled a trim out last week without any problem, much tighter along the bottom edge though which would suggest it was on the screen before it went in.

As for rounded edges, I've got cars with apparently original screens with rounded top corners on the trims so think Citroen may have changed the design at some point. Don't know if I have any square edged ones actually....

Ok Chaps,

Its for the DTR which is 27 years and 182000 miles old, it appears to have the original screen, will try and remove the old seal in once piece, I can get a new one if needs be.
