Hand brake cable

Are these handed? Does anyone have a part no. for a n/s one if so?

The list gives only one part number 4745.L2 so I guess they aren't handed.There's another number listed E704 003 for the same part but I imagine that's an old number that's been superceded.

Phil I got mine from AEP Direct. Good price and genuine Lecoy ones.

Yes; one goes in the right hand side and one goes in the left hand side. hope this helps :D :lol:

make sure you ask for forward ones and not rear ones :wink:

Always remember this clown I worked with that had a BX14E and he insisted the hand brake on his operated from the rear wheels. Then again few MOT testers have been caught out by this unique braking system the BX has over the years and still do.

Tester here in France was equally confused by the handbrake on my 1980 Land Rover the other day - which operates on its own drum on the propshaft...

Incredibly effective though! Caught my wife out when she pulled the handbrake on before completely stopping :lol:

Not so unique. Front handbrake also a feature on other Citroens and early Saab 900s (and possibly 99s).

Just checked all the brakes on the BX today. In good fettle.

I've had an issue with a garage fit cable from a while ago ( old and nearly past it ) . Took the old one off and put it up against two new ones. All three were different lengths. Chose the shortest one and all appears to be wunderful now
