leaky octopus fixed!!

Post by themildbunch »

After weeks of dripping BX and LHM expense I managed to find the time to get this done..

I had a new octopus but thought I'd have a go at fixing it first as Ken's mentioned before with some pipe stuffed in the HC return that usually splits...

Luckily that short pipe between the HC and main octopus body had split so I cut it at the split and tried to stuff some 4.5mm steel pipe in - No go here much too big so I found some old plastic LHM pipe that was about 3mm and after some faffing with fingers and 2 long nose pliers I managed to get it in the octopus enough and then use some silicone pipe between it and the HC..

So far so good and no leaks... Do be warned though access is extra bad, need very good light and long pliers without which it's not really possible unless you have 3 year old's hands or remove the driveshaft...

Hopefully this will hold - I was careful to cable tie any piping that looked slightly wobbly too - I can safe the new Octopus for when it really all goes wrong...
