The thread for the bleed screws is M8 as for the depth I don't know. I'll check the packet I bought from Citroen last year - they come in a bag of five ( one for the doseur bleed screw which doesn't actually seal properly as it doesn't have the right 'head' on it!)

When the brake pipe unions won't move or ring off it is easier to drill and tap a new thread as they seal on the rubber seal without having to be completely tight. I have done this without a leak also on two rear suspension cylinders which are even worse for corrosion on the unions.

We are talking about the right sort of nipples aren't we? I don't want to go off topic..

These one's are normally 'hand-tight', a spanner won't be necessary ( don't blame me, you perverts started it! :D )

They look poorly adjusted to me. Aren't they supposed to be level . . . or was she just pleased to see you? 8)

Sorry Malcolm, didn't spot the 1st bit of your post

Anyone know of some cheaper aftermarket one's instead of the gold plated citroen versions?

I've heli-coiled many of my pipe unions as well as nipples, seem to be holding just fine without any leaks

you seem to be able to make a complete mess of it and still get a good seal as I found out on my first attempt (it got better once I'd worked out how to drill in straight without a clamp to hold it tight)

just make sure you clean up any swarf etc from the drilling before you put the heli-coil in, once its in its a real pain to get out again

the only trouble with this is you can damage the nipple seat when drilling,

if you catch the seat with the drill bit the nipple probably wont seat properly,

If we can't get any for a quid at Johnny Chavs Poundland Auto Stores, we'll just have to dig deep and stump up £2.99 for one at the Citroen dealer. Oh well, I'll just make another notch on my belt and chuck some more furniture on the fire. :D
