H P pump seal

Post by Mickey taker »

In one of my boxes of bits was quite a new looking
H P pump.

Only thing is there appears to be a bit of a weep from the seal behind the pulley, can the seal be replaced or is the pump unservicable ?

There was a thread on here a while back about someone who's done it, and I guess Pliades (sp?) do it when they recondition a pump. Apart from that, I dunno!

it's doable, and the seal is available, but reconning a pump isn't really for the feint hearted..

If Brian can work out how to fix leaking HP pumps or how to re-con any worn internals, then i've got a pump or 2 lying around that could do with fettleing. I haven't thrown them away, just incase they can be repaired.

Brian, post up some piccies if you can on what you're doing, it would prove quite interesting to the club members i'd expect :D

I had a concerted effort with the pulley removal, but no luck.

The extractor and the front section of the pulley broke off.

Anyway, the pump on my trusty 17RD started to leak at the pulley end, and the only spare diesel pump I have was on my sphere pressure tester, so that was used on the RD.

The above now broken petrol pump was fitted with mods to the tester.
So was put to good use.

Thanks Mick.
