16v Non starter
I had another crack at this without any result. Changed the whole pump and filter assembly over without any change. On the way I noticed that the 'pulsation buffer' had been bypassed probably because it's a lump of rust. Should I install a new buffer - is it necessary? They're still available from Citroen but it looks like a rear subframe drop to access it!
I don't know what to do next to get the car going. Is there any chance of the pickup being blocked in the fuel tank or does this only happen with diesels?

Replying to my own post!
I ran a fuel line from a petrol can directly into the pump and she started. So I inspected the fuel pick up in the tank - fine, completely clean. Shot some compressed air down the pick-up to pump line and re-connected - started and stalled.
Realised that there must be something wrong with that fuel line so I pulled it out and put another one in there.. and now she starts on the button, runs and - to quote Jonkw - 'idles better than a dole scrounger'.
It's all a bit odd really, the line must have been porous somewhere and though not dripping fuel was not holding the vacuum. That's all I can think of.. but I'm not arguing with the results..

D'you reckon that's why he did all those crazy ass stunts? Cos he was off his face on petrol fumes and didn't really know what was going on! Best way to be
