Fuel filler neck top locking ring

Post by adamskibx »

Hi peeps..Does anyone know what part I need? Its the locking ring that allows the fuel cap/flap to seal shut that has rusted off the car, and is now held in by friction alone. As Andy is breaking a BX, I was going to ask him for the part, but I don't know the extent of that part. Is it the whole filler pipe I need?

Thanks in advance,

Adam

On another note, can you remove this pipe with the car in low with the wheels on? Somehow, I doubt it...Andy was wondering.

I have ONE spare one left which i was keeping as they're getting rarer now...

Mine's the plastic necked one for the models with the extra tank in the rear wing (16V, Gti, TZD etc etc).

Any good to you (or anyone else)?

Hi Jay

It will be of use if the bayonet bit comes off... If so, how much would you want for it?

I have to admit, I don't know whether I am having Andy's, because his car is stuck in the low position, and he doesnt want to get his hands too dirty, but I may be able to hold on - I am sure a bit of glue of some sort will hold it for the MOT, and then its low priority.

I've got fuel filler issues on both BXs. On the Mk1, I was struggling to get the screws to tighten up. Replaced some of them and it's now pulled tight, but it still leaks. Not good with diesel.

On the Mk2, the screws are just pulling out and leakage is also occurring.

So, it looks like I've failed to cure the issue with the Mk1, and need to cure both. What do I need?

The screws just run into captive nuts, take the neck off and you'll probably find the nust have rotted away. Easy replacement!
