Octopus fitting

Post by hvanman »

Bugger.... finaly got the sub frame and rack on and spent half a day trying to get the various pipes to not foul the steering gaitor and then spotted one had snaped off right at the union rubber...... luckily I have a spare octopus from the scrap car, with only some minor damage that I can repair.

My question is, is it easier to feed the tank ends up from below, or drop the other ends down from the top of the engine bay..? Access looks tight.

Cheers, simon.

Whoops, just realised I posted this in the wrong place, can I move it, or does it need admin?

feed them up from underneath,
then route then through the plastic trunking along the top of the chassis rail,

be aware the one at the tank the goes onto a short right angled spout there is a tinny ball bearing inside were the spout fits onto the tank,

Thanks Malcolm, I didn't know about that ball bearing, so will watch out for it.

2,5 mm^2 electric wire is handy for changing hoses/pipes in tight places:

That's a good bit of work Riku! I particularly like this expression of intent:
..a substitute cephalopodus will be engineered
How about using Goodyear fuel piping though? How does that handle LHM? I suppose you'll find out..

What grade of fuel piping? There are quite a few! Ever noticed at a petrol station that the grade of diesel hose and petrol hose is (usually) different?

That said i think all main fuel hose types are resistant to oil, and that is all Liquide Hydrualique Mineral is.

I'm a bit fan of silicon, its rather robust, but irritatingly squidgy.
