Sunroof dilemma

Post by kiwi »

On outr UK spec TXD the sunroof started to not work and making those noises from the relay. When I went to swap it with the TRS sunroof relay the relay is differant. The TXD relay has made in derby UK written on it and the TRS is made in germany. But the connections are both differant.

My next train of thought is to swap the motors over! Any pitfulls to look for before doing so? One those jobs never done before.

no pitfalls as such, just make sure BOTH motors are in the parked position before swapping.
You dont want to disturb the cables the motor act on as the roof will either open on the cock, or park to high or low.
It's a fiddle to get them right, but if it's just a straight motor swop and you dont disturb the cables, you should be ok

When you say PARKED you mean closed? Looks like just a motor swap just a simple case undoing the screws and connectors I hope. Seeing the differance in relays got me thinking of the pitfalls hence the question.

sorry yes, closed, ideally you want both motors in the same place on the micro switches, other wise the replacement may "park" with the roof half open or such..
but if both are in the same position then it's pretty much just remove old one, fit new one, done!

You serious? Window switchs I have had a few of them fail over the years. This I admit was a surprise given I figured the whiring elctronic type screech was coming from either the motor or the relay. Seems to have cured the problem however this time of year sunroof not in much use :(

It looks like at some time the previous owner had put tape across the switch to stop use, so this has been an ongoing issue for some time.

totally, I've been working on BX's, and other random Citroen's for years, and never found a duff switch yet!
