Front Strut Reconditioning

Post by Tim Leech »

Driving the TZI over the weekend has prompted me to do something about god awful ride at the front, it really lets the car down. Ive lubricated the struts externally and internally but they still groan, stick and generally put up fight. I wonder if a life living by the sea and doing short journeys played a part.

Anyway I have a spare set of struts to fit but want to get them "done" before I put them on, I remember pleides did, but unsure of costs etc.

Thanks!

Can't remember where but someone was selling new BX strut inserts for about £45 each maybe a search is called for.

assuming you can find a rebuild kit somewhere they are easy enough to overhaul at home, as long as the piston isn't lipped..
Smokes lots, because enough's enough already!

Far too many BX's, a bus, an ambulance a few trucks, not enough time and never enough cash...

well, if you get stuck, and can find a kit, send them to me and I'll overhaul them.

there were 2 kits, whch if you can find both will replace everything in the trut bar the piston. it's usually the little bugger that sticks on the piston, but as long as the piston itself isn't scored (they can get a hell of a lip on them) then a kit will restore floatyness as Citroen intended. If the pistons knackered... thats a bit harder to fix, but not impossible

where's Malcolm when you need him? That said, I know they are NLA from Citroen, but if Plaiedieieieieieies can get kits, they must be available somewhere!
