cooling system

Post by halima99 »

Hi guys, my radiator seems to be building a lot of pressure, I have taken the radiator out and flushed it, but it still seems to build a lot of pressure, the top hose is warm, but rad is cold, however when I release the rad cap it holds a lot of pressure, could anyone give me some advice on this cheers.

Sounds like a airlock!, get the heater on full and with the engine running and radiator cap off undo the bleed screw at the opposite end of the radiator to the filler cap.You should here the air come out followed by a flow of water, top up the coolant as you bleed to force the air out.

Have you checked your thermostat is opening?, try taking it out temporarily just to eliminate it.

You will do well in New Zealand as a mechanic! First thing that gets blamed and then fixed is the Headgasket here! You only have to look on the local online car sales to see the most common thing mentioned is Head Gasket.

I doubt HG until every other solution has been looked at including blocked Radiator.

btw, should this not be in technical? Just being picky

If the radiators cold then it still sounds like a blockage, is the heater getting warm?
